Fact: I accidentally turned VoiceOver on on my computer. 6 months ago. It has been a heavy burden.
If you don’t know what VoiceOver is, it’s for blind people (literally…not like OH GOD IT’S FOR BLIND, RETARDED PEOPLE [not like all blind people are retarded. I’m sure there are exceptions!), a little robot reads everything on your screen for you, even narrating when you turn the capslock key on and off (which I do ALOT). For many months I just kept my computer on Mute, then I somehow figured out how to turn the sound off, but not the little black box that ensured the little robot was aware of every single word that appeared on my screen and every single keystroke executed by my desperate, child-sized hands.
Every time Jacob (or any other human being with a bare minimum of computer-savvy, to be honest), saw my laptop in action, he’d laugh and say, “You still haven’t turned that thing off? It’s so easy, let me do it for you.”
I would always wave my hand and change the subject, “No, I don’t care, I’ll do it eventually.”
I think I felt like, well, I did this stupid small thing to myself, and I must live with it until I have the wherewithal to undo it.
Ladies and gentlemen, I have just undone it.
Turns out you just have to hit F5.
