This whole 5Lights experience is actually blowing my mind, both as a participant and an observer. It is hard to articulate (but goddammit will I try) the unique experience of seeing a handful of people spend time with the same theme or idea, and riff off of it. And create original art from it.
Like this song that blows my mind. I feel tied to it somehow, by a humble little creative strand, feeling like all of these things we made are a little vulnerable family that I can’t believe exists.
Anyway, go back to the site and see it all together. Ray Fawkes posted a painting, a fucking painting, people, created for this project. And he was interviewed here about that very thing.
Like I said, this is all very mind-blowing.
