This is the first slide of the panel I’m moderating at the Brooklyn Book Festival tomorrow, on comics. If this isn’t compelling, I don’t know what is!
If you’re wondering what I know about comics, the answer is “not much,” but I do know “by the People” (it’s about independent artists - Molly Crabapple, Spike, and Jamie Tanner — and how they do their thing, ie make art and a living, which for these purposes has involved Kickstarter).
I have never moderated something before. Doesn’t seem like it would be a core competency of mine (Wow I’m really selling this, aren’t I?), but I am looking forward to the conversation.
Say hi if you come by! And if you’ve never been, the Brooklyn Book Festival is really nice. I always sort of panic when I get there and end up not going to any panels because I can’t decide which panels to go to, and just sit there staring at the schedule and realizing I am now too late to go and I’ve already missed it. Then I do this over and over, every hour on the hour. But there are lots of fancy writers there reading and chatting. Also, so many booths. All booths and all books. And food trucks. And random people you know. It’s great! (sort of!)
