Jared discovered Billy Joel this weekend, which i find unendingly hilarious.
I remember when I made official my love for Billy Joel— I was 11 or 12 and visiting Ft. Lauderdale for Christmas at my grandparent’s house and I used my Christmas money to go to Sam Goody and for some reason, buy Billy Joel’s Greatest Hits Vol I, II & III. I came home and played them all on my grandfather’s surround sound stereo (a formidable possession in 1996 or so) and I sang and danced around as if I had just discovered this big secret underground artist no one knew about and this was just one more reminder of how cool and smart I was. “This song is so GOOD! Listen to it!” I would yell, and replay Piano Man or something and all of the adults were kind of like, “Um?”
